Course Details

Spotters are responsibility maintaining a safe environment around the use of MEWP and other site machinery. This course aims to ensure that Spotters are aware of their responsibilities.

Certification & Assessment

Operatives who successfully complete the course will be Certified in Spotter Safety Awareness Training. It is valid for 2 years

Who should attend?

Employees designated as spotters in the organisation or those tasked with the safe movement and the safe monitoring of MEWPs on site

Course Objectives

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

• List and understand their duties of a Spotter
• Understand the MEWP’s capabilities and the MEWP danger areas
• Direct the movement of machines
• Understand safety signals to communicate with the MEWP operator

Course Programme

Course covers the following:

• Legal and regulatory framework that underpins spotting machines
• Understand the load abilities and potential MEWP dangers
• Be able to safely return the MEWP to ground level should an incident occur
• Identifying the correct movement of machines on site
• Learning safety signals to help communicate with the MEWP operator
